Student Testimonials

Tell me a little about your background.
I graduated from Arizona State with a degree in Business and Planning. I enjoy playing sports, competing, and hanging out with my family and friends.
Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?
I have been interested in medical sales ever since my sophomore year of college. I had an internship with a device manufacturer and I got to learn from and shadow some of their top reps. I knew then that medical sales brought the very excitement and competitiveness that I was looking for in a career.
How did you learn about Medical Sales College?
I found EliteMed Recruiting online and got in touch with one of the recruiters. She explained to me the types of services that Medical Sales College offered and how useful they could be to an aspiring representative such as myself.
What ultimately made you decide to attend?
I finally decided to attend after many hours of due diligence. I got a better understanding of the curriculum at that point; I knew this would be a phenomenal opportunity. Also, I was able to learn about past representatives who had gone through the program. There is a reason why MSC boasts over an 80% success rate.
Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.
My training was great, to say the least. Never in my academic career have I had an experience where I learned so much while having so much fun. The whole atmosphere at the school is great and everyone there is diligently working to help get you into the industry.
What is the most valuable piece of information that you learned while attending MSC which ultimately helped you land your position?
To be honest, I used everything from my training during the interview process. Each piece we learned plays an intricate role in exemplifying one?s attributes and talents.
Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?
If anyone is seriously considering medical device sales, than MSC is a must. Not only does the school make it much easier to break into the industry, the information learned in the program makes the transition much easier. I am so glad I made the investment because now I have my dream job and I am rapidly making progress. All thanks to MSC!
How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?
I was fortunate enough to secure a junior rep position directly out of college. However, it was with a vascular access company so it wasn?t exactly what I wanted to do. Once I had a year?s worth of experience in medical sales and a successful track record, I started to interview with orthopedic companies. Even still, most said that I didn?t have the right type of experience that was necessary to excel in the field.
Did you have any fears about attending the School? What were they?
Of course; Medical Sales College is a huge investment of time and money. The main fear was whether or not the investment would pay off. Here I am, one month after graduation, teaching spine surgeons the latest pathologies to hit the orthopedic market.
Explain what your interview process was like.
My interview process was exactly what my instructors said it would be like. A series of intense interviews and tests where I would have to demonstrate my knowledge and ability to make an impact. Thankfully, MSC did a great job of getting me prepared. The first interview was face to face, followed by invitations to live surgeries. Two weeks later, I was hired for my dream job.
What is your current job like?
I love my current job. As I get settled in, I continue to pick up more responsibilities. Each day, I am either in surgery, or setting up for surgeries later in the week. I just started selling to my surgeon targets and it only took me one week to schedule multiple face-to-face sales meetings. There is always somewhere to be, something to do, and something to sell. That is why I love the job!
What do you know now that you wish you had known before entering the industry/attending Medical Sales College?
This is a tricky one. The simplest way I can answer this is, my whole training at MSC. Before entering MSC, I had very little idea of what to expect while out in the field. The discussions at MSC were so in depth that nothing has been a surprise to me thus far. It is so helpful to have this fundamental base of knowledge that allows me to excel every day.
What was the most valuable thing you learned at Medical Sales College/What piece of training do you use the most in your day-to-day activities?
Simple answer, SURGEON PROFILING! MSC teaches its students to how to gather and study information about prospective surgeons. The best part is, not a lot of current representatives are currently doing it, so it gives me a huge advantage. Also, upon meeting the surgeons, it makes it much easier to have a productive conversation with them.
