Tell me a little about your background.

I graduated with a Business Degree and was working at an electronic recycling company where I did sales, H.R. and accounting for them.

Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?

I like the sales process and the idea of being out and always doing something different: on the road one day, in the office another day, conversing with different people. In terms of medical sales, I have a cousin who is in the industry and loves her job; she got me looking in to this career path.

How did you learn about Medical Sales College?

I found MSC through MedReps.com. EliteMed Recruiting had posted a job on there and I started researching from there.

What ultimately made you decide to attend?

I basically decided that this was what I wanted to do and that I needed to just go for it and hope for the best. Just looking through the website and seeing what former students said really helped as well.

Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.

I loved it there and would love to go back. I miss it and keep in touch with most of my classmates. It was a lot of hard work but it was very rewarding in the end knowing that you put in all of that effort to complete all of it.

What is the most valuable piece of information that you learned while attending MSC which ultimately helped you land your position?

The surgeon and products profiling helped a lot, my company was really impressed with the organization and detail.

Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?

I think it was a great experience and I really enjoyed it. It was stressful, but in the end it was very rewarding and an unforgettable time. I met so many great people there and I miss it. I have had people contact me via LinkedIn about the School and I always recommend that they attend if they want to get in to the industry because the industry is very difficult to get in to. I would not have gotten in to this industry if it weren?t for Medical Sales College.

How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?

Every position that I applied to wanted experience. I was stuck and didn?t know how to get the experience when I couldn?t even get an entry-level position. I would say that I tried for about six months before I approached Medical Sales College. I had tried MedReps.com and other medical device and pharmaceutical companies sites and wasn?t getting any kind of response. That?s when I started looking in to how to get in to the industry and that?s when I came across Medical Sales College.

Did you have any fears about attending the School? What were they?

I did because it was a major change in my life. I was quitting a job without having another job and I was going in to a completely different field without really knowing much about it. That was one fear. Another was going somewhere new and not really knowing what to expect.

Explain what your interview process was like.

I did six interviews for this current position. First, I did a phone interview with my Manager, and then I did a follow-up interview with the Regional Manager. After that, they sent me a foot tray and I had to meet with them to present the tray to them. I was sent the tray on a Saturday and I had to present it to them on Tuesday. I had gone through the Spine program so I was nervous, but I learned the procedure and memorized all the instruments in the tray. They also made me point to all the pieces with a laser pointer like I would in the O.R. At the end, I had to place all the pieces from the tray back where they belonged. My interviewer was really impressed because I did everything well, but it was an intense interview. Another applicant that they had for the position had more experience than I did, and had a nursing background, but in the end I got the job.

What is your current job like?

I?m loving it. I have done my first case and it went well. Everything is moving so fast and I am just hitting the ground running.

What was the most valuable thing you learned at Medical Sales College/What piece of training do you use the most in your day-to-day activities?

There is not one specific thing that I can say because all of it together is important. Learning how to always be ahead of the game as well as the surgeon profiling is really helpful. My instructor?s knowledge about the industry, along with having connections with my classmates who are now also in the industry has also been valuable.
