Student Testimonials

Tell me a little about your background.
Spent 14 years in pharmaceutical sales. Won Presidents Club 4 times. I wanted so badly to break into device sales and it wouldn?t have happened without MSC. I spent years trying to just get an interview. Within 3 days of being home from MSC I already had 2 phone interviews with top 5 companies
Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?
I wanted a challenge that pharma sales just couldn?t provide. What drew me was the ability to be in the OR with brilliant minds and watch them perform their talents.
How did you learn about Medical Sales College?
I found a posting on MEDREPS.
What ultimately made you decide to attend?
I felt like this was the opportunity for change I needed.
Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.
Amazing. Theresa Richards and Tilden Register are amazing instructors. I had Theresa for the entire course, but Tilden was very helpful and would step in to give industry advice from time to time. Theresa Richards is a wealth of knowledge. I learned so many ?tricks of the trade? from her that have benefited me already. Theresa is as real world as it gets. She will push you hard but its only because she wants you to succeed.
What is the most valuable piece of information that you learned while attending MSC which ultimately helped you land your position?
Biologics, Biologics, Biologics. Biologics is where you can set yourself apart.
Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?
How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?
I tried for several years with no luck before MSC.
Did you have any fears about attending the School? What were they?
None.
Explain what your interview process was like.
The interview process was crazy. I went through 4 steps in the process before I was offered the position. We met 2 time and the 3rd and 4th I shadowed a rep to understand what their day was like. I think its because some people think this is easy but don?t realize the hours involved.
What is your current job like?
Crazy, fast paced, unpredictable, fun as it gets. My day starts in the hospital around 6:30 am two days a week and usually ends around 6pm. Then I am usually returning phone calls until 5 or stopping in offices to schedule appointments with surgeons. I spend the other 3 days a week setting appointments, ordering sets for upcoming cases or servicing my existing accounts. Its not uncommon to leave the OR and have a call from an office that the surgeon wants to meet about info you left, and they can only do it that day at 4 and you are 2 hours away.
What do you know now that you wish you had known before entering the industry/attending Medical Sales College?
I think MSC prepared me for what was getting ready to happen. Now that I have been working for about a month I feel like I have a better handle on the career and industry because of MSC. I would be lost and would have failed without MSC. I didn?t realize how complex it was before attending MSC. People don?t believe that if you mess up 1 time in the OR your career could be over before it starts. Without OR protocol training I wouldn?t have had a clue what do.
What was the most valuable thing you learned at Medical Sales College/What piece of training do you use the most in your day-to-day activities?
Biologics, Preparation, and OR protocol. Having all the credentials certified has been a huge help.
