Student Testimonials

Tell me a little about your background.
I grew up playing sports and played at the collegiate level. I studied exercise science in college, but decided to pursue my dream of being a police officer. I was hired by the Phoenix Police Department, but ended up needing a second knee surgery and was unable to return to duty. That is how I got into the medical sales field.
Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?
Medical sales allows me to use my educational background and help not only doctors, but patients as well. I enjoy helping others, and this is the perfect field to do just that. It is also a fast-paced industry, which I prefer over monotonous jobs.
How did you learn about Medical Sales College?
One of the clinical specialists with the company I was distributing for had attended MSC and told me to check it out.
What ultimately made you decide to attend?
I spoke with the clinical specialist who referred me and she made me feel at ease about it. My phone interview with Kim helped to answer my smaller, more mundane questions.
Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.
It was fast paced to start. Then once you get settled in and get into a routine, it slows down. Tilden was an excellent instructor and definitely makes the class fun.
What is the most valuable piece of information that you learned while attending MSC which ultimately helped you land your position?
The ability to present effectively, speak with confidence, and know how to run someone through a surgical technique.
Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?
How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?
I was fortunate enough to be hired as a sales rep by a family friend upon leaving the police department. So, it was not difficult to get a foot in the door. However, there was no opportunity to grow in my position, so I decided to pursue other positions with various medical device companies.
Did you have any fears about attending the School? What were they?
The biggest fear was whether or not the money was worth it.
Explain what your interview process was like.
I got lucky and only had two phone interviews, then one in person interview with the company I got hired by. MSC helps you prepare for the interview style you will face, and it definitely made the process easier and more comfortable for me.
What is your current job like?
Fast paced with a lot of travel.
What do you know now that you wish you had known before entering the industry/attending Medical Sales College?
You?re never really off the clock as a rep. It takes a lot of work outside of knowing your own products. I am constantly reading articles and keeping up with competitor products and procedures. You also spend a lot of time profiling the surgeons in your area to find your key targets, and find something that you can use as common ground to get face time with them.
What was the most valuable thing you learned at Medical Sales College/What piece of training do you use the most in your day-to-day activities?
The ability to present to doctors, managers, hospital staff, and key figures without feeling inadequate.
