Tell me a little about your background.

I graduated from University of Iowa in December 2019. I was a gymnast my entire life and thought I wanted to be a chiropractor. From working a few months after graduation as a chiropractor assistant, I started looking into medical device sales. Through connections I was able to talk to Jim Rogers who convinced me to attend MSC.

Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?

I like the fact that I can still be in the healthcare field and have an impact on other peoples lives just in a different way. As well as being able to work in the OR without needing to go to medical school!

How did you learn about Medical Sales College?

Jim Rogers? brother in law is a good friend of ours and he connected me to him.

What ultimately made you decide to attend?

Having a unique experience to get into the medical device industry by being able to have a taste of what the industry will be like. Instead of getting a sales job for a year or 2.

Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.

There is so much I learned from MSC due to not understanding what kind of industry I was getting into. It?s hard to pick. But if I had to choose, I would say the weekly inservices and exposure to mock ORs. From explaining that in the interviews they all really liked hearing that. I do wish we had more long call sales calls to prepare for a few interviews. Only did that during the Ortho week.

Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?

It gets them a head start from any other candidate in the interview process. Having an idea of what the responsibilities are like, talking to surgeons, having more training time than some other companies is such a huge benefit.

How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?

It was the best decision I have ever made. I learned so much in such a short amount of time. I have no regrets

What do you know now that you wish you had known before entering the industry/attending Medical Sales College?

The interview process is very frustrating but it takes patience. Also wish we had more time at MSC to do mock interviews. It would have helped a lot.

What was the most valuable thing you learned at Medical Sales College/What piece of training do you use the most in your day-to-day activities?

It started off slow, but once I got more connections I was getting weekly interviews. The only thing that was really frustrating was the feedback on how they really like me but I have to have at least one year of sales experience.
