Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?

The healthcare industry has always been apart of my life since both my parents are healthcare professionals and my older brother in medical school. I learned about medical device sales during an internship at UPMC Pinnacle Lancaster Hospital and felt that it would be the right fit for me.

How did you learn about Medical Sales College?

Online.

What ultimately made you decide to attend?

After getting nowhere on my own trying to get attention from medical device companies, I figured taking classes at MSC was my best option at gaining any experience in the industry after college.

Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.

I partook in the 12 week orthopedic sports medicine and extremities program where I learned anatomy, the uses of biologics on the human body, OR protocols and etiquette, and sales rep to surgeon sales tactics.

Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?

Medical sales college gives a person without any medical sales experience the leg up they may need to break into the industry. The tips and advice given to me from my instructors have already helped me become a better rep.

How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?

About 6 months.

Please briefly explain your job interview process with your hiring company.

In my job interview I was asked to sell my employer a product. I had time to complete research on the product and then presented to him. I had to do this 4 times on the same product because each time they would give me something new they wanted me to add to the sales pitch. They did this to see if I was coachable.

What is your current job like?

I have done a training program in Memphis, TN for my company where I learned more anatomy, specific biologic/kit use and sales strategies.

What do you know now that you wish you had known before entering the industry/attending Medical Sales College?

Medical sales is a very demanding industry to be in. You have to sacrifice time and commit yourself to learning the material day and night.

What was the most valuable thing you learned at Medical Sales College/What piece of training do you use the most in your day-to-day activities?

The constant presence of being in an uncomfortable position on something I know very little about and then presenting on that topic. This gave me the confidence I needed and showed me how educated I needed to be on a certain product to be able to confidently speak on it.
