Tell me a little about your background.

I have over ten years of yacht sales experience with success throughout the 2008 recession. After receiving my bachelor's in Biomedical Engineering, I tried to get into the industry without any success. After three years of trying to break into the industry, I made the decision to utilize MSC for training to have a better chance of landing my dream job.

Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?

I have always had a great interest in the medical industry. After spending 10 years in yacht sales and 2 years in the oil and gas industry, I wanted to join a secure job market ? the medical device industry.

How did you learn about Medical Sales College?

I learned about Medical Sales College from LinkedIn and current medical sales reps in the industry.

What ultimately made you decide to attend?

I made the decision to join MSC due to the frustration of not receiving interview opportunities.

Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.

MSC gave me the vast knowledge of biologics and how to research the products in an in-depth understanding of how to discuss them with surgeons. With a hands on approach to the surgeries from a scrub tech, surgeons, and a reps view. All instructors helped to boost my confidence on the products in presentations as well as conversations with existing reps on their products.

Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?

Even if someone thinks they may know everything to get into the industry, they may not know what they need to know. Every aspect from product knowledge, prospecting customers, sales tactics, sales presentations, and surgical knowledge is delivered through MSC to ensure them they will succeed in medical sales.

How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?

Three years

Please briefly explain your job interview process with your hiring company.

The position I took was one of four companies I was interviewing with. The first interview was a test of my personality and competitiveness to see if I fit with their culture. After completion of the first phone interview, I was asked to prepare a short call on a particular product and sell to the managers as if they were the surgeons the next day. This allowed me to move to the next round of interviews via zoom calls being more in-depth approach on my sales tactics and marketing strategies. From the first call to the day I received my offer the process took three days.

What was the most valuable thing you learned at Medical Sales College/What piece of training do you use the most in your day-to-day activities?

The most valuable piece of information that MSC gave me was the aspect of networking to produce interviews and land the position.
