Student Testimonials

Tell me a little about your background.
I was a college lacrosse player and post graduation I took a job as a college lacrosse coach at Southern Virginia University. I have been the Offensive Coordinator for the last 4 years and I spent time as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at the school as well.
Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?
I got married and had a daughter so my priorities changed as a result. As a college lacrosse coach it was not reality that I would be able to make enough money to provide my family with the life I wanted to. For me to switch careers I needed to find something that I knew I would love and also allowed me to give my wife and daughter the life I wanted to give them. For med device sales I love the fact that everyday is different, its very competitive and I will never be spending my days in an office.
How did you learn about Medical Sales College?

What ultimately made you decide to attend?
I didn't try prior to attending MSC.
How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?
I went through the interview process with 6 different opportunities before I got my first offer. I was lucky enough to land two offers to allow my wife and I to pick the best opportunity for our family. Honestly I did not feel like the interviews were hard, the biggest thing was that those interviewing me wanted to know that I had a basic understanding of spine, I would work hard and I would fit in with the team in the area.
What is your current job like?
I will be an associate spine rep. My day to day will be a lot of the behind the scenes work moving trays, restocking trays and making sure everything is prepared for the surgeons to use in the OR.
What do you know now that you wish you had known before entering the industry/attending Medical Sales College?
I wish I would've started networking at the beginning of class rather than waiting half way through. Networking is everything.
What was the most valuable thing you learned at Medical Sales College/What piece of training do you use the most in your day-to-day activities?
The best way for those to break into the industry if you do not have B2B sales. Also I believe that what I learned during my course will allow me to hit the ground running from day 1, hopefully making the transition less overwhelming.
