Tell me a little about your background.

I received my bachelor?s degree from the UW-Oshkosh with a Marketing degree with an emphasis in Healthcare Management and Sales. Throughout college I participated in track & field and cross country. After college, I worked in an inside and outside sales role trying to break into the medical device industry.

Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?

I grew up wanting to be a nurse, so I?ve always been interested in the healthcare industry. During college is when I was drawn to the medical device industry after talking to a few reps and deciding to get into the business side of healthcare.

How did you learn about Medical Sales College?

I learned about Medical Sales College online. While I was looking for jobs and on LlinkedIn, I kept seeing ads for MSC and from their I did my research on the college.

What ultimately made you decide to attend?

I decided to attend the college after reaching out to a handful of graduates from MSC, and they all spoke very highly of the college. I also was very determined on getting into the Medical device industry and I figured this would not hinder my ability to get into the industry, it would only increase my ability to do so.

Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.

MSC gave me a great deal of valuable information. I learned so much on the human anatomy which is crucial to be successful. After learning the anatomy, we started to dive into the devices that would assist with certain pathologies. We were assigned products for each specialty to do research on, which really increased my understanding on the product and its indications. I attribute my success getting into the medical device industry to MSC because before this I never had employers calling to interview me, let alone employers even calling me after I applied for a position. MSC helped me become a marketable candidate for the medical device industry by preparing me for my future.

What is the most valuable piece of information that you learned while attending MSC which ultimately helped you land your position?

During my interview process, I had explained to my Regional Manager the outline of MSC and what we learned during the 6 weeks. I had done my research on OsteoMed products and competitors as we were taught to do in class. I also took into account all the materials that we reviewed during the last week on how to prepare for the interview and land the job. Overall, MSC really increased my confidence going into the interview too because I knew I was qualified and I had invested in my ability to be successful.

Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?

Someone should attend MSC if they are serious about getting into the industry. If it is truly a passion and dream that you have, MSC will definitely give you the confidence and knowledge you need to break into the industry, if you are willing to put in the work after graduation to find the job. MSC gives you the materials you need to be successful, you just need to apply those afterwards. Orthopedic devices is a highly competitive industry to break into and MSC allows you to do that without having that previous experience.

How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?

I had been trying to get into the industry since I graduated in May 2016. It was frustrating because I was not even able to get a call back for an initial phone screening.

Did you have any fears about attending the School? What were they?

I did have fears about attending the college, I had not heard of the college before. I also spoke with a few current reps in the industry and they had not heard of it either, so I questioned whether it was worth my investment and how legitimate the college was.

Explain what your interview process was like.

I had a very quick interview process due to the urgency to fill the position. I had a phone interview with the Regional Manager and then the Regional Manager flew to WI and we had a face to face interview.

What is your current job like?

I am currently a Territory Manager for small bone orthopedics with OsteoMed covering the state of WI.

What do you know now that you wish you had known before entering the industry/attending Medical Sales College?

I wish I knew about MSC sooner.

What was the most valuable thing you learned at Medical Sales College/What piece of training do you use the most in your day-to-day activities?

The sales material that I learned with Jim Rogers was extremely valuable because it applies to any area of sales, and it is something that I continue to hear from current reps too. It is the way that I am able to set myself apart from my competition with the service I offer.
