Tell me a little about your background.

Undergraduate degree from Youngstown State University in Biology. Moved to Pittsburgh, worked in research for one year before getting into an accelerated Nursing program at Duquesne University. 2-year program and winter semester met a few medical device reps, learned about the job more and decided right away that was were I wanted to be.

Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?

I am passionate about the medical industry and field; I think this career lets you bring satisfaction and help to both patients and doctors. I feel good about being in this field, wake up knowing I?m doing something that is helping people each day and just truly enjoy the industry and innovation it can bring.

How did you learn about Medical Sales College?

Searching for jobs in the field, came across a posting about it. Reached out to some people on LinkedIn who went to MSC before and got all positive reviews.

What ultimately made you decide to attend?

I was getting nowhere in my job search with the experience I had on my resume. Knew that I needed something to help me get more attention to prove I deserve and want to be in this field. Decided this was the route that was going to give me that extra push to achieve a job.

Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.

I attended the 8-wk Orthopedic Reconstruction & Trauma program. I learned everything from PRC, biologics (which I really enjoyed), knee, hip and shoulder replacements. Then had trauma week which was all different types of medical devices and a very interesting and cool week that I enjoyed. The dynamic selling techniques was a good change to a different side of the field that we all wanted to be in so that was very valuable to have. Then learned about interviewing and different techniques to try to use to help with the process. Overall, I really enjoyed my time there, learned amazing things and made some great friends to have for the rest of my life.

Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?

MSC is an excellent place to get hands-on training in the field that you choose to help you get an extra step in the field before getting a job. They taught me valuable information, techniques and skills that I will be using in my new role within the medical device industry. They provide you with resources and support to help you get interviews and connections that help to lead to your future success.

How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?

I was searching for jobs for about 4-5 months roughly with little to no traction coming from any job I applied for.

Please briefly explain your job interview process with your hiring company.

It was a very long process altogether. Most jobs I interviewed with and moved past the initial tests were very in-depth, didn?t seem to be in a hurry most of the time, basically they took a while to move from each step. Some were much quicker and to the point then others, but each one was different in their own way and really helped me in my interview techniques and skills to eventually lead me to the job I received.

What do you know now that you wish you had known before entering the industry/attending Medical Sales College?

How intense the entire job interview process is. It was extremely stressful at times and sometimes I would find myself doubting why I?m trying to get in this field after rejections after rejections. But I?ve learned to not quit on something you are passionate about and want to do, so I kept working hard at it and growing until I finally landed the job I wanted.

What was the most valuable thing you learned at Medical Sales College/What piece of training do you use the most in your day-to-day activities?

For my position specifically it was the information I learned during the trauma week, as I am in the foot & ankle specialty. So, knowing various plates and screw types and designs helped me showcase that knowledge during the interview process. Also creating my own 30-60-90 day business plan really stood out when I showed that and the work I put into it, to show that I wanted the job and know how to put the work in to be successful.
