Student Testimonials

Tell me a little about your background.
I am from Tallahassee, FL and received my bachelor?s degree in Athletic Training from Huntingdon College. I received my master?s in Sport Management from Florida State University. I spent 4 years with the Atlanta Braves Organization as an ATC then went on to became head of facility operations with Titus Human Performance.
Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?
I have always had a passion for the sports medicine world, first as an athlete, then as a healthcare professional (ATC). I am fascinated by the combination of modern medicine and technology so the more I found out about medical sales it was very clear I wanted to be in the field.
How did you learn about Medical Sales College?
One of the athletes I worked with at Florida State University as a Grad-Assist. ATC, Shawn Powell, attended the Medical Sales College and said it was well worth it and what they teach and instruct prepares you for the field and beyond.
What ultimately made you decide to attend?
I heard nothing but great things about it, everyone said if you are tired of hearing the same response from companies saying you don?t have the right experience, then go the Medical Sales College.
Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.
From day 1, talking with Kim, all the way through graduation out in Colorado, everyone was very accommodating. All of the professors had a wealth of knowledge and endless amounts of experience to prepare us for the field. The material was very thorough and gave us a great deal of exposure to the topics in the field currently.
What is the most valuable piece of information that you learned while attending MSC which ultimately helped you land your position?
First of all, I was able to converse with them about the field, products, surgical techniques, etc. I also talked about what we learned and the sales training. They were also impressed by how much we had done with MDRepTracks; surgeon profiles, products, procedures, etc.
Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?
How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?
I tried for about 8 months prior to beginning Medical Sales College. I had 1 interview with Integra Life Sciences, but I kept receiving the same response, ?not enough sales experience.?
Did you have any fears about attending the School? What were they?
I never had any fears about the school itself, I heard all good things from former grads. My only fear was getting a job opportunity following as it was still not guaranteed. I had an interview and 3 phone calls, four days after I graduated; I accepted a full-time position a week later.
Explain what your interview process was like.
I got a call 4 days after graduation. I had 3 sit down interviews with CrossLink Orthopaedics for an Upper Extremity ASR position. I interviewed on a Friday, the following Monday, and Tuesday, then was offered the position that Tuesday. They asked about my background, about my experience at the MSC; they kept saying how impressed they were with my knowledge of the field and commitment to go through with a program like MSC.
What is your current job like?
I am an ASR with Stryker / CrossLink Ortho in Upper Extremity. We are in Norcross, GA. They start us off in the warehouse to learn trays and implants for 6 months. Then we begin to get out with other Sales Reps to begin seeing surgeries and sales calls.
