Student Testimonials

Tell me a little about your background.
I graduated from Florida State with a degree in International Affairs. I did several internships, but there was only one in the health industry. The other ones were in government and finance.
Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?
It was something I was interested in for a long time. I didn?t want a job where I would be sitting behind a desk all day. Medical sales gives me a chance to interact with people on a daily basis while not being confined to a small office space. I also like that you are able to help people while doing your job.
How did you learn about Medical Sales College?
I saw it online and realized that some of my friends from FSU had gone through the program as well.
What ultimately made you decide to attend?
Talking to the people that I knew from FSU who attended MSC and hearing their experiences gave me confidence in the program. After talking to Kim and hearing the placement rate numbers, I was convinced that this is what I wanted to do.
Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.
I loved the program. I thought that the instructors were amazing. I can?t say enough good things about them. I have to say that the sales training blew me out of the water. The sawbones labs also really helped me grasp the information.
What is the most valuable piece of information that you learned while attending MSC which ultimately helped you land your position?
Everything. I did everything MSC told me to do as far as interviews were concerned. I brought in my surgeon profiles, and really took all the advice MSC gave me on interviewing. I had been on lots of interviews before in different industries, but MSC showed me how to most effectively market myself for medical sales positions and that was really helpful. Even though I may not have had as much experience as other candidates, I knew how to sell myself for the job.
Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?
MSC is great. It teaches you so much about the industry in general and how it works. It really sets you up to be prepared and successful. I know that by going to MSC I am much more confident in what I do and feel very prepared for what is asked of me in my job.
How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?
About three or four months. Most of what I interviewed for was pharmaceutical. Most of the interviews I had required sales experience and business-to-business experience that I didn?t have. It was very difficult to get an interview.
Did you have any fears about attending the School? What were they?
I was a little bit nervous about my background. Since it wasn?t in a science related field I worried that I wouldn?t be able to grasp the info as well.
Explain what your interview process was like.
I interviewed with several companies. I interviewed with DePuy for a position in Miami, and another distributor in Miami, I also interviewed with Smith & Nephew, which is who I ultimately ended up with. I attribute the fact that I was able to get so many interviews to MSC. I think if I didn?t have MSC on my resume these hiring managers would never have flagged my resume and I wouldn?t have had the opportunity to interview with them.
