Tell me a little about your background.

I worked as a project manager and outside sales for a flooring contractor. I have 10 years experience in the construction industry.

Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?

I started college and planned on a career in nursing. I wanted to help people and that was the underlying theme. What led me to sales is I didn?t have the time to pursue a degree in nursing or medicine. This is a great opportunity to be part of the surgical team and with the baby boomer generation, there is an increased need for orthopedic sales. My research on the school made this decision easier.

How did you learn about Medical Sales College?

A year ago last September, I took a look at getting a job in medical sales. All the jobs I was looking at kept telling me I needed specific training. I did more research and about six months ago became really serious about this career. That?s when I decided to attend MSC. The reputation and the placement rate of the school was very, very good.

What ultimately made you decide to attend?

This is the career I wanted. MSC was the best way to make it happen.

Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.

At the beginning, the six-week online was just getting back into ?school? mode. There was an adjustment period, but once that was done and I got to Denver, the program was fantastic. The training exceeded my expectations by a long shot. My spine trainer was phenomenal. I can?t express enough how much my trainer brought to the table and how much she cared for us individually. She took the time needed to make sure we were prepared.

What is the most valuable piece of information that you learned while attending MSC which ultimately helped you land your position?

Putting together the business plan/portfolio was very helpful. Having that as a tool and a resource to discuss with the hiring manager was extremely beneficial.

Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?

At the end of the day, you?re looking at value, MSC has tremendous value. If you are willing to work hard and make the commitment, MSC is worth it. It takes a lot of effort and you need to apply yourself. What I learned at MSC is invaluable as I begin my orthopedic sales career.

Did you have any fears about attending the School? What were they?

No major fears.

What was the most valuable thing you learned at Medical Sales College/What piece of training do you use the most in your day-to-day activities?

The number one thing I learned is that surgeons are analytical and cerebral. You must engage them on their level, you must know the case studies, etc. that appeal to their way of thinking. The selling method learned at MSC is programmed around appealing to the surgeon?s intellect and their way of thinking, and that made a huge difference to be able to walk the walk and talk the talk.
