Student Testimonials
Tell me a little about your background.
I was a two-sport athlete in high school and had several knee injuries that required surgery. I developed a passion for the medical field during this time and was interested in becoming a Physical Therapist. I was a rehabilitation aide for Athletico Physical Therapy for about 5 years while attending school for my degree in Biology from Illinois State University.
Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?
I originally wanted to go into PT, however I decided I wanted to look into doing something more competitive in the medical field. I was introduced to some medical sales reps while working at Athletico and was immediately interested.
How did you learn about Medical Sales College?
I struggled to get interviews right after college due to my limited sales experience and started researching how I could gain experience. I stumbled upon the school during this research and decided I needed to invest in myself to achieve my goals.
What ultimately made you decide to attend?
I really liked the fact that the duration of the course was only a couple months. The ability to gain experience and knowledge that could prepare me to succeed in this industry that rapidly was a major perk. I also was very interested in the placement rates of the school. With my limited experience I knew this was the best bet to quickly get my foot in the door.
Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.
This is a very comprehensive course that covers everything from expected day of a sales rep to anatomy/physiology, as well as break down of surgical products to surgical technique. There is a PRC training, Biologics week, Foot and Ankle, Sales, and Upper extremities week where you are covering a variety of ways to learn about and sell products.
Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?
How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?
I graduated in August of 2018 and had applied for some sales roles throughout the Chicagoland Area until my enrollment of the class in March of 2019.
Please briefly explain your job interview process with your hiring company.
What is your current job like?
I will start working in a week, but have attended a couple cases with my partner and it has been pretty typical of the days we were taught as a normal day for medical sales rep.
What do you know now that you wish you had known before entering the industry/attending Medical Sales College?
I learned some great sales strategies and how to maintain relationships with potential clients along with an in-depth knowledge of products and anatomy.
What was the most valuable thing you learned at Medical Sales College/What piece of training do you use the most in your day-to-day activities?
I found the sales week to be super beneficial due to my limited experience in that area. I was able to understand what to focus on when breaking down the products and what surgeons are looking to hear when trying to sell to them. I obviously learned a lot about the injuries and anatomy, but I had a good base of knowledge from my degree and experience as a rehab aide.
