Tell me a little about your background.

I graduated from college in May of 2016, with an undergraduate degree in Public Justice. I used the summer of 2016 as a time to reflect on myself and decide what career path I wanted to take. Over that summer, I realized that Orthopedic Sales was what truly sparked my interest.

Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?

I held a small sales role in high school and college and throughout this job I liked seeing my hard work pay off. I also went to college for Public Justice because I like to help others. I realized Medical Sales was a way for me to combine both of my interests.

How did you learn about Medical Sales College?

I had a customer come into the seasonal restaurant I worked at after college. He asked ?what are you going to do once the restaurant closes for the season?? I told him that I was looking to get into medical device sales.

He ended up being a regional manager for Medtronic and explained to me that his company had just hired an individual who graduated from Medical Sales College. He told me that he did not know much about the school but suggested I look at the website.

What ultimately made you decide to attend?

Seeing the high placement rates helped with my decision a lot, along with speaking with different graduates.

Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.

I started with Rebecca for OR protocol, HIPAA, etc. and then biologics. At first, I had a hard time understanding biologics but after the second day I had a much better understanding. During my third week, Thiana became my instructor for the Sports Medicine portion of my program. Both Thiana and Rebecca did an amazing job as instructors.

The last week I was there, Jim became my classes instructor for the sales portion. I learned a lot about what to do as well as what not to do in certain situations. We were recorded for relationship calls, short product calls, long product calls and our role play challenge.

The role play challenge was the scariest part of this week for me but it was also the most rewarding. I won the challenge and it was great to be able to watch a video of myself presenting once I finished.

How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?

I tried to get into the industry for a few months but I had no success due to my lack of B2B sales experience.

Explain what your interview process was like.

My interview process felt extremely long and tiring. I worked with company recruiters who got in contact with me through EliteMed Recruiting and I also did a huge amount of networking on my own.

I learned a lot throughout my interview process, and eventually landed a job that I am extremely excited about.

What is your current job like?

I just recently started, so most of my time so far has been spent getting onboarded. I have attended a team meeting and an orientation. Next week I will begin my case observations.
