Tell me a little about your background.

I graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Biology with an emphasis in Pre-Medicine from Pittsburgh State University. I took a gap year after graduating before applying to medical school. I accepted a job as a Cardiac Monitor Technician at The University of Kansas Health System during my year off to gain clinical knowledge. Through my clinical experience, I was introduced to the medical device sales industry, and have had my sights set on this career ever since.

Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?

I believe medical device sales is a dynamic, challenging, and rewarding career. It will be especially rewarding for me because it is a perfect dichotomy of fulfilling my personal mission, which is to make a difference by improving the lives of others and is also a positive outlet for my sales mentality and competitive nature.

How did you learn about Medical Sales College?

Online.

What ultimately made you decide to attend?

This is a very specific career path, and a tough industry to break into, especially for someone like me who has no prior documented sales experience. After applying for months by myself with no luck, I discovered Medical Sales College. I saw it as a perfect opportunity to gain industry knowledge that would help me get my foot in the door.

Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.

Training at MSC was an invaluable experience because I got to learn about my industry from several "seasoned veterans". There is no perfect recipe for success in this industry. However, by learning from multiple instructors and receiving their feedback, I feel confident that I am prepared to conquer any scenario as a device representative; which will ultimately advance my career.

Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?

MSC builds your network.

How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?

Less than 6 months.

What do you know now that you wish you had known before entering the industry/attending Medical Sales College?

I wish I would have known about MSC sooner. This program teaches you how and where to find opportunities.

What was the most valuable thing you learned at Medical Sales College/What piece of training do you use the most in your day-to-day activities?

The most important thing you can do as a rep is to always be learning. You need to take advantage of every minute of downtime you have. Whether that is reading about the latest technology, practicing sales pitches in the car, or taking the time to make a new connection. These small efforts are what creates personal development and will ultimately lead to success.
