Tell me a little about your background.

I am a former elementary school teacher as well as a scrub tech. I have over 10 years of experience as a scrub tech specializing in orthopedics and transplants.

Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?

I decided to pursue a career in medical sales because I wanted to use my educational background to help others in the medical field.

What ultimately made you decide to attend?

I knew from being in the industry that attending MSC was the next best thing to having actual medical device sales experience.

Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.

My training at MSC was spot on. Having prior OR experience, the things that they were teaching were very important. We learned about the anatomy, correct terminology, the steps of different procedures, and proper sterile technique. They gave us some great advice based on things that had actually happened to them in the OR.

Describe your experience with Dynamic Consultative Sales training.

Before attending MSC, I lacked sales experience, and after going through the training, I am a lot more confident in my ability to "sell" to the doctors. I learned that I have what it takes to be very successful in this area.

Describe your Career Development training experience.

The Career Development team was amazing. My career development coordinator was always available for advice and was actually the one who contacted me about the position I accepted. She was always on the lookout for positions that she knew I would be interested in. The VP of Career Development was also very helpful by helping me get connected with a former MSC grad that works for the company I was interviewing with. They truly listen and want all their grads to be placed in a position they truly desire.

How did the training at MSC help develop your sales skillset to successfully enter this industry?

MSC helped me feel more confident about this industry's sales techniques. We spent so much time doing mock sales calls and presenting different products.

How did your MSC training help you transition from a different industry into the fast-paced, high-stakes nature of medical device sales?

MSC taught me to take the qualities that set me apart in my previous job as a teacher and combine them with the skills that they taught me. They helped instill the confidence that my background in education and as a scrub tech, combined with their sales training, would lead me to find a job quickly and excel.

How did the training at MSC prepare you for the clinical complexities in this type of sales role?

MSC helped me understand that the patient is always the main focus, and in this new role, that is very true. The patient always comes before the sale.

How did placement services help accelerate your entry into the medical device sales industry?

Placement services actually called me to tell me about the position and helped facilitate the company looking at my resume quickly.

Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?

Someone should attend MSC if they are serious about wanting to pursue a career in medical device sales. MSC provides invaluable experience and knowledge to help someone excel in this industry.

How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?

Coming from the OR, I understood that it was who you knew and what you could do for that company that would get me in the door. I knew MSC was my best bet for achieving that.

Please briefly explain your job interview process with your hiring company.

I had three interviews. The first interview was over the phone with the sales and recruiting managers and the director of operations. I then had a zoom call with the territory manager for my area and then a final zoom call with the director of sales and account manager.

What was the most valuable thing you learned at Medical Sales College/What piece of training do you use the most in your day-to-day activities?

The most important information I learned from MSC is how to have a proper interview. Your answers should always reflect how you can help the company.
