Tell me a little about your background.

I was born in raised in Colorado Springs and went to college at the University of Colorado Boulder. I studied History and Asian Studies. After I graduated in 2016, I worked for DaVita Kidney Care and enrolled patients on dialysis into a health wellness program.

Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?

I did inside sales at DaVita but did not like sitting at a desk all day and wanted to be more client-facing. I wanted to stay in healthcare but wanted more of an outside sales position/B2B. A lot of my family work in the healthcare industry and they suggested a medical sales position would be a good fit for me.

How did you learn about Medical Sales College?

Online.

What ultimately made you decide to attend?

I had applied for medical sales jobs for 9 months and couldn?t even get an email back. I knew nothing about the industry and had no outside sales experience or OR experience. I figured the college would help to educate me and give me more knowledge of the industry and possibly help me break into the industry.

Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.

It was a great training experience. I learned a lot about the industry and they really helped me to gain an advantage at breaking into the industry. They really give you the tools to learn about the basics and then really show that you know the industry when in interviews. They also gave really good guidance on the interviewing process as well as networking. The instructors were also really hands-on and very approachable if you had any questions.

Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?

If you really want to get into the industry and know this is your passion, it is a great way to learn more about the industry and meet connections that will really help you land a job. If you really want to make a change in your career, this is a great starting point to get into the industry.

How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?

I applied for 9 months to get into the industry but no luck.

Please briefly explain your job interview process with your hiring company.

I networked with some of the product specialists as well as a classmate of mine that had the same position as me. I had a few phone interviews with the manager and the recruiter, then I had to take the Gallup test. After that I met in person with the manager and then had two more in person interviews with some product specialists on the team and then a final interview with my manager and his manager. The whole process took about one and a half months.

What is your current job like?

I haven?t started it yet, but I know it is going to be very rigorous training that will be challenging but rewarding. I know I will also shadow some product specialists in the OR as well.

What do you know now that you wish you had known before entering the industry/attending Medical Sales College?

Network as much as you can and don?t be afraid to get out of your comfort zone to chase your career goals.

What was the most valuable thing you learned at Medical Sales College/What piece of training do you use the most in your day-to-day activities?

The friends that you make in the class are the most important part of the course in my opinion. After I graduated, all my classmates helped me to network in the industry. That was how I landed the position that I got.
