Tell me a little about your background.

After graduating from a small college in Iowa, I worked for two companies in the commercial real estate field the past two years. I specialized in working with medical practices exclusively in Metro Denver.

Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?

After leaving the commercial real estate world, I had to decide what I was really passionate about. I sat down with an old boss who introduced me to the idea of medical device sales as a career. The more I thought about it, it made perfect sense to me. I am passionate about people and being a helper in every area. So having the ability to help not only the patient on the table but the entire team in the O.R. was something that got me really excited.

How did you learn about Medical Sales College?

Word of mouth.

What ultimately made you decide to attend?

After talking to Kim Smalley, I felt that MSC was a place that would give me the ability to break into this super competitive field, and I was right!

Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.

Each week was great and I learned a lot through the process. All of the instructors that we had prepared us for the real world applications of what we were learning each week. I felt very prepared to go and interview after leaving MSC.

Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?

To gain a valuable experience that gets you a legitimate opportunity to get a foot in the door in this industry.

Please briefly explain your job interview process with your hiring company.

I went through multiple interviews with a few companies but with Stryker it was the most straight forward. After connecting with the lead sales recruiter and interviewing with her, I chatted directly with the GM of orthopedics in the area. After that, I went through the gallup test and passed. Once that was done, it was just a waiting game to see where the job would land.

What do you know now that you wish you had known before entering the industry/attending Medical Sales College?

How hard it really is to get a job!

What was the most valuable thing you learned at Medical Sales College/What piece of training do you use the most in your day-to-day activities?

The grit and determination it takes to make it!
