Tell me a little about your background.

I previously worked in the financial and banking industry for the last 10 years.

Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?

I became interested in medical device sales because I have always been a very competitive and driven person. I like to set goals and accomplish them. I have always wanted to help people and I knew that medical sales would be the perfect career for me to pursue.

How did you learn about Medical Sales College?

Google.

What ultimately made you decide to attend?

I decided to attend MSC because I was already moving to Houston for my husband's career and knew that now would be the best time for me to pursue what I really wanted to do because my previous industry was just not it for me.

Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.

The training at MSC was great. I thought all of the instructors were very knowledgeable and were always willing to help if I had any questions.

Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?

I honestly wouldn't have gotten the job without going to MSC. It gave me a step up on the competition. Even if you get a job in a specialty outside of the specialty program you took, they have the resources to help you succeed.

How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?

About a year.

Please briefly explain your job interview process with your hiring company.

The process started when I added the VP of Sales, Spine Division for Spinal Simplicity as a connection on LinkedIn. I then got a message from my current Territory Manager that said he was hiring for the Houston area and wanted to know if I would be open for a conversation. Our first conversation went great and then we met in person for an interview the next week. Next, I was invited to a lab training conference where I met the VP of the Spine Division, and some of my soon to be surgeon clients. The next week I had a phone call with some other executives from the company and then a call with the CEO. They are a smaller company and the CEO likes to welcome everyone on board before the official offer letter is sent. The whole process from start to finish took about a month altogether. It was very smooth.

What is your current job like?

I am only on my second day. So far I have just completed my onboarding, hospital credentialing, picking up instrument trays, and training.

What do you know now that you wish you had known before entering the industry/attending Medical Sales College?

Everyone mentions how quickly things can change with different cases but you don't realize how accurate that is until you're actually in the role.
