Student Testimonials

Tell me a little about your background.
I?m a graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in human nutrition, foods, and exercise science. After college I went to work for Nordstrom as a Personal Stylist, I was also a bartender in Nashville, TN, and then I ended up being recruited to work for Enterprise Rent-A-Car. I worked for Enterprise for about a year and half and was promoted up to an assistant manager.
Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?
I?ve always had a passion for Medicine. I believe I spent most of my childhood dreaming of being a doctor. During my college career I held a part time job at a local boutique, which really got my feet wet in a sales associate role. I had a passion for learning about others, their wants, needs, and finding a product that best fit the criteria. I knew a Medical Sales Career would allow me be both emerged in medicine but also allow me to use my sales talents. Everyone knows this is a growing industry and if you like to hustle but also work in a hospital setting then it?s a perfect fit. I knew its where I belonged.
How did you learn about Medical Sales College?
I was browsing LinkedIn one day looking for medical sales jobs and an ad for Medical Sales College came up
What ultimately made you decide to attend?
Kim S., was so helpful during the entire process. I would have to say just talking to her was kind of my deciding factor. She made me feel really good about my decision to attend. She is easy to talk to over the phone and you just feel an immediate ?trust? when speaking with her.
Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.
The first week was a lot of OR protocol, etc. Which I had no idea about any of it- yes I have a science background but I knew nothing about walking into a hospital and nothing about hospital staff. These days at MSC are no joke- it takes a lot of time and focus to sit in a classroom setting for a whole workday when you?re used to moving around. I struggled in the beginning but after the first two weeks I adjusted.
What is the most valuable piece of information that you learned while attending MSC which ultimately helped you land your position?
Honestly, Rebecca Camp- I just really listened to her every time in class she would talk about the interview process and what to say. I was always taking notes!! I knew keywords to say and I would say those and it helped me. I believe its really important to follow up after all interviews and also to thank the interviewer and ALWAYS ASK FOR THE JOB. They want to know you want it.
Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?
How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?
I?ve been trying to get into the industry since 2014 when I graduated college. I couldn?t even get an initial phone interview for four years. I was so close to giving up.
Did you have any fears about attending the School? What were they?
Any change can be fearful. Leaving a stable job with a stable income to pursue something you would love to do can be intimidating for anyone. I had never really heard of MSC so in the beginning I was like is this place like OZ or something does it actually exist. Is it reputable? Obviously, as I sit here filling out this form- I?m like thank GOD I took that risk. Click your heels 3x and there is no place like home!
Explain what your interview process was like.
I had an initial phone interview with Garren Foy the field coordinator for IQVIA: very detailed initial interview- it lasted for 2 hours! Second interview was with the Regional Sales Manager for Depuy Synthes Michael Jackson- that was an easy interview. I was then passed on to the Sales Team I?d be working under- this was in person with the whole team at the Hospital.
