Tell me a little about your background.

I entered the school with no medical background. I had previous experience in direct sales but came from a primarily artistic background with a focus on acting. I was a bartender for many years and realized I needed something more challenging and lucrative.

Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?

I wanted to enter an academic and challenging field. I loved the idea of a service and a product directly affecting people?s health. I love the rush and the challenge of sales, it?s incentive to work harder. I had a very good friend in the field who was a great mentor and extremely encouraging. His insights and answering approximately two million questions made me realize this was the career I wanted to pursue.

How did you learn about Medical Sales College?

I had a very good friend who went to the school previously.

What ultimately made you decide to attend?

I?m a huge believer in the idea that anyone can learn anything if you put enough effort in. I wanted to learn and was fortunate to have a mentor who helped me navigate in the industry

Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.

One of the best experiences I?ve ever had. The entire staff is unbelievably supportive. They were always available, communicative, and willing to answer any questions I had. They are knowledgable on the field and went over above and beyond what was necessary to help me understand and succeed. They were honest and always willing to answer questions. Even after class was done they still stay in touch and are willing to help. Can?t say enough good things about the staff. Our class was supportive, kind, and motivational. I?m still good friends with several people in the program. I wish I could do it again.

What is the most valuable piece of information that you learned while attending MSC which ultimately helped you land your position?

Being able to go through the procedures, anatomy, and common challenges surgeons face intraoperatively was impressive to managers. I had several interviews where they would ask me scenario questions having to do with procedures and selling. I feel being able to confidently and knowledgable answer those questions got me job offers.

Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?

I don?t know how you would learn such a specified device area such as orthopedics without formal training. There is no way someone could independently learn all the information from self-study as quickly as with this school. The sales side of the training is also specifically geared to medical device sales. The field is so competitive and once you are out, you are trying to learn so many other things it would have been overwhelming to not have initial introduction of the field.

How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?

I chose to go to the school before attempting to enter the industry. I wanted a foundation before I put myself out there.

Did you have any fears about attending the School? What were they?

I didn?t think I would be able to keep up with learning an entirely ?new language? and medical concepts. It was intimidating to read medical papers and feeling like I was looking up every word. I remember it taking me two hours to understand one sentence my first attempt. It was challenging. I was fearful everything would just go over my head, however over time it all began to make sense.

Explain what your interview process was like.

My interview process in the field was enjoyable. Some were more intense than others, but having a foundation and a business plan walking into the interview gave me the confidence I needed to proceed to the next round. Most people wanted to know what training was like at the college and were impressed with the curriculum and what I had gained from MSC. They were all very impressed with the school and it helped set me up for success.

What will you do in your new job?

Amazing. I?m working with a company who has very innovative systems and technology. I love the people I work with in a position I thought would take me a couple years to get to. I have the opportunity to travel around the country, on top of being a consultant for my territory. It?s exciting to be able to talk to surgeons and have a conversation about a procedure or a problem they face and be able to speak their language. The people I get to learn from everyday are experienced, driven, and down to earth. I am incredibly fortunate to be with the company I am now.

What do you know now that you wish you had known before entering the industry/attending Medical Sales College?

I wish I had not been so nervous that I wouldn?t be able to learn the material. It?s very possible and the school allows it to be enjoyable as well.

What was the most valuable thing you learned at Medical Sales College/What piece of training do you use the most in your day-to-day activities?

Always do one more.
