Student Testimonials
Tell me a little about your background.
I studied Exercise Science at the University of South Carolina on track to become a physical therapy student, but changed my mind and decided to pursue medical sales. I had no sales experience and had heard about MSC from a friend and decided to apply!
Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?
The fast pace environment excites me and the opportunity to meet knew people and continually learn appeals to me. I also love the idea of selling something that is helping better people?s lives.
How did you learn about Medical Sales College?
Through a prior graduate and close friend, Salley Carson.
What ultimately made you decide to attend?
It was very convenient that it was in Charlotte where I lived already, and the success my friend Salley had afterwards proved it works and prepares you for success in the field.
Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.
Intense lectures on everything from anatomy and physiology, biologics, real stories from my instructor about the industry, guest lecturers from surgeons and reps, sawbones, and lots of role playing and product research/presentation.
Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?
How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?
On and off for about a year.
Please briefly explain your job interview process with your hiring company.
What is your current job like?
I have, but I am doing a lot of training now. I have already been traveling and have lots of future traveling ahead as well, which I love! I have my first case Tuesday. In the future I will be running cadaver labs for surgeons, continuing to cover cases when needed, and calling on surgeons in NC. The position I have is a ?hybrid? one; I will cover cases, but mostly focus on sales and calling on surgeons and DPM. I will start out selling foot and ankle, then move on to wrist, knee, etc.
What do you know now that you wish you had known before entering the industry/attending Medical Sales College?
Even with all you will learn at MSC, there are lots of things you will only learn from experience! Every company is different, and every position is different. We talked about that at MSC, but I?ve learned through interviewing even more so.
What was the most valuable thing you learned at Medical Sales College/What piece of training do you use the most in your day-to-day activities?
Even though I took the Spine course and landed a not-spine job, I think the hours of product research and reading surgical techniques was really helpful to me when I researched products not related to spine. I was still able to prepare for an interview and understand the technology the company offered. The role playing as well helped build my confidence with interviewing.
