Student Testimonials

Tell me a little about your background.
Graduated from UNC Wilmington in 2014 with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. Was a bullpen catcher/manager for the baseball team. Following graduation, I pursued my dream of coaching college baseball. Due to financial reasons, I eventually stepped away from baseball and found a love for sales.
Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?
I have always found the medical field to be fascinating and truly enjoy helping others. The ability to communicate and interact with people on a daily basis and the opportunity to create long lasting relationships is what drew me to the industry.
How did you learn about Medical Sales College?
I learned about the Medical Sales College through a posting for an internship on CareerBuilder.
What ultimately made you decide to attend?
Ultimately, I decided to attend the college to get a base foundation of knowledge in regards to the medical sales field in hopes that having this experience would allow me the opportunity to get in front of the right people and hopefully break into the industry.
Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.
Overall the training was a very rigorous process. It is similar to a full time job/graduate school in that you are in class all day, and then are required to do work on your own as well, this could be as much as a few hours every night! This is something that takes 100% dedication and you must know this is what you want to do; do not take it lightly! I gained an immense amount of insight and knowledge from my instructors in regards to the industry and their experiences, and that I believe is what is going to be most helpful in my career going forward.
What is the most valuable piece of information that you learned while attending MSC which ultimately helped you land your position?
I would say that being familiar with certain medical terms and having the ability and confidence to speak and comment on those topics as they were brought up in conversation during the interviews really helped me to succeed.
Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?
How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?
I had been trying to break into the industry for probably about 2 years off and on. It was an extremely challenging experience, considering I had no medical background, even with a bit of sales experience I still could not get the opportunity to get in front of anyone.
Did you have any fears about attending the School? What were they?
I was extremely excited about attending MSC, I wouldn?t say I had any ?fears? but may have been nervous about making sure this was the right step for me and my career in medical sales.
Explain what your interview process was like.
My interview process was pretty straight forward. I first spoke with Eric Nofsinger (MSC Instructor) in regards to the school and getting into the industry. I then had an interview with Kim Smalley, the Vice President of Admissions and Operations at MSC. Kim got to know me on a much deeper level and truly made sure that this was what was best for MSC and myself as a potential candidate.
What is your current job like?
My most recent job was as a Sales Representative for a residential construction company. This job was a grind each and every day, as much of my success depended on business that I self generated through knocking doors.
What do you know now that you wish you had known before entering the industry/attending Medical Sales College?
I wish I had found out more about the different new locations that MSC was in the process of opening up.
