Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?

With my personal medical background, I felt at a young age a desire to give back to this industry. I public spoke for a few different organizations on the fundraising side speaking alongside top doctors in the Oncology field. I wanted to give back in a different way, expand my knowledge and be an advocate for patients.

What ultimately made you decide to attend?

I loved my conversations with Kim (she is the best), and she worked with me on a personal level. She listened to everything I had to say, and I saw the benefit from the materials she had me look at.

Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.

It was tough. I stayed in the classroom until about 8:30pm multiple days a week trying to learn the material. I feel like you get out what you put in. Mark Ridgway and Dr. Perns both worked with me outside of classroom hours, and their guidance was really awesome, not just in the classroom but after the program as well.

Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?

You will learn to think through procedures and the "why" at MSC. I think that is most important. That, and you will get confidence in what you should know, and people will go to bat for you when you need them. I think the support group here is incredible, but you get out what you put in.

Please briefly explain your job interview process with your hiring company.

I was speaking with reps through LinkedIn, I connected with Talent Acquisition people, and I spoke with external recruiters. For Stryker, I was contacted by the talent acquisition for PA who got my info from Zero Fee. After a short interview, she told me about the position and I told her I wasn't interested in doing robotics in the OR. She sent me information and we hung up. I looked the information over and I thought it was something completely different. Mako, I believe, is the future of this industry. I sent my thank you email, and called her first thing the next day. She asked me a few questions and then passed my information along to my now boss. After going through the gallup, a face to face interview, and then a day full of interviews with hire-ups I was offered the job.

What was the most valuable thing you learned at Medical Sales College/What piece of training do you use the most in your day-to-day activities?

You gotta know your stuff. I think the best learning days in the program were when we were sitting in the classroom and Mark had us second guessing ourselves, and thinking through everything we were speaking. We didn't just learn "what" we needed to learn, but the "why" and the "how", and that should be something MSC prides itself on.
