Tell me a little about your background.

Grew up moving around a ton because my dad was in the army. Played hockey for 12 years despite all the moves. Graduated from college in April 2019 with a B.S. in Sports Medicine. Pretty much had no idea what I wanted to do until I discovered this industry.

Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?

Many reasons. I have always wanted a career that would get me up and moving around vs sitting in a cubicle. Also, medical sales incorporates aspects from my undergraduate degree. Overall, I decided it was a career which I could be passionate about so I pursued it.

How did you learn about Medical Sales College?

Through online research of the industry.

What ultimately made you decide to attend?

After speaking to quite a few former students, no one had anything bad to say about the program. Everybody was very helpful and pretty much told me that you get out of it what you put into it.

Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.

The training was great. Rick, Teresa, and Malcom were great instructors who not only taught the information well, but also provided helpful anecdotes to provide real world context. The interview tips sprinkled in with the training was also very helpful for me when going through interviews.

Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?

I honestly think if I hadn?t gone to MSC I would have stopped trying to get into this industry long ago. All the info they provide is extremely valuable. Everything from the clinical info to anecdotes as well as interview tips, and being told to never give up if you want to break in.

How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?

2 months.

Please briefly explain your job interview process with your hiring company.

Reached out to a distributor on LinkedIn. Met with him later in the week. He then connected me with one of the reps he works with and I met with him the next day. A few weeks later I got a phone call from the second person I had met with telling me that he?d spoken to his friend in the industry who was looking to hire someone in Los Angeles. Met with him the following week. Then had a ride along with one of his reps in Orange County. Had a phone call with the regional VP. Then a final meeting with him where I received a verbal offer.

What do you know now that you wish you had known before entering the industry/attending Medical Sales College?

How very important LinkedIn is and how it can be your greatest asset in the job search.

What was the most valuable thing you learned at Medical Sales College/What piece of training do you use the most in your day-to-day activities?

This industry is all about networking. I probably reached out to close to 800 people on LinkedIn before and after I finished the program. Every single job opportunity I found was from that. Never turn down an opportunity to meet with someone in the industry, as you never know what could come from that meeting.
