Student Testimonials

Tell me a little about your background.
I graduated college and got my degree in Health and Physical Education as well as my teaching certificate for Pennsylvania. I taught long-term sub positions and coached high school wrestling. I did that for a few of years but couldn?t get tenured; there were no jobs out there for Health and Phys Ed so I decided to make a switch.
Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?
My mother works for Merck and had mentioned it to me. The industry deals with the body so I still felt I could make the jump from Health and Phys Ed. I got even more interested once I started to look in to it more.
How did you learn about Medical Sales College?
I found out through my mom and someone she had worked with.
What ultimately made you decide to attend?
I honestly believe that I wouldn?t have had the opportunity to get a job without the school. I was in Education so I knew that a foundation was important when making a career change. I felt like this was something that I needed to do in order to make it in the industry
Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.
It was definitely intense: the amount of knowledge that you needed to know was a lot. It was difficult, but it definitely helped me especially once I graduated in the scenarios that have popped up in my interview questions about procedures.
What is the most valuable piece of information that you learned while attending MSC which ultimately helped you land your position?
In one interview, I had to do a Short Sales Call with the Company?s products, which was something that we actually did in class.
Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?
Especially for someone in my position who had no contacts in the medical device field, I feel that it gives you the foundation to be successful to get started and have a gateway in to the industry. I never would have gotten the two interviews and job offers that I did if I hadn?t attended the school and gone through the process.
How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?
MSC was actually my first stop and I did not apply to any jobs. I figured that this was something that I was going to need to do before I got in to the industry.
Did you have any fears about attending the School? What were they?
The fear of the unknown and not being sure of what was going to be asked of me. I felt comfortable with the anatomy, but I had my doubts about the rest of it.
Explain what your interview process was like.
I actually had two going at once and got offers from both. For this position, I met with the field reps first and then got in touch with the Regional Manager and Vice President of the area for four separate interviews.
What is your current job like?
Right now I am still training. I?m building trays and visiting the different hospitals. I love it!
What was the most valuable thing you learned at Medical Sales College/What piece of training do you use the most in your day-to-day activities?
The hospital and competition profiling is going to help me a lot because I know what I am selling against.
