Tell me a little about your background.

I am a Military Veteran, worked 3 years as an ICU Registered Nurse, and had zero sales experience.

Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?

Nursing is a very rewarding career field; however, nursing will always have a ceiling independent of one's work ethic. So for the individual who has an entrepreneurial mindset that is both personally and financially driven, a career in sales has the potential to fill that void. More specifically, with my strong clinical background and existing relationships with neurosurgeons, I knew spinal sales were a perfect fit.

How did you learn about Medical Sales College?

An employer in the industry.

What ultimately made you decide to attend?

I decided to attend after researching their placement percentage rate.

Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.

My experience at MSC was truly exceptional. I learned more about the biomechanics and anatomy of the spine than I ever did in nursing school. Furthermore, for someone with zero sales background, I feel confident that I have the tools to acquire new clients and obtain competitor product knowledge that will aid in servicing surgeons. Lastly, without MSC, I would not have been able to land the job offer I did without the connections I acquired through MSC.

Describe your experience with Dynamic Consultative Sales training.

It was fantastic. My sales trainer did a wonderful job, and he made us "feel comfortable being uncomfortable."

Describe your Career Development training experience.

My career development trainer had great industry insight as well as advice on how to analyze different offers. I actually received two separate offers at the same time and utilized Scotts advice when deciding to accept the position with NuVasive.

How did the training at MSC add to your existing clinical knowledge?

I honestly thought I would go to MSC, and the clinical portion was going to be more of a refresher, but I was very wrong. I had a much better base than the rest of the class, but I had no idea how much knowledge medical device reps needed to know as far as the actual operational steps.

Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?

You don't know what you don't know. Even as a nurse with current relationships with surgeons and PAs, I really had no idea what surgical reps did, what their roles in the OR really were, who the top companies are, etc. MSC gives you the industry insight and product knowledge you need to be successful. The ideal candidate for MSC is someone who is extremely driven, able to put their life on pause for a few months and completely focus on the program, and has a bachelor's degree.

Please briefly explain your job interview process with your hiring company.

In my case, my hiring manager actually came into our class to speak and asked our trainer if anyone in the class was in the Colorado Springs area. My trainer then forwarded him my email, and I asked the hiring manager if he would be willing to interview me that week. He agreed and then after a few more interviews with the current reps, I got the offer.

What was the most valuable thing you learned at Medical Sales College/What piece of training do you use the most in your day-to-day activities?

The most valuable thing I learned at MSC was how to interview well, and how to survey your territory.
