Student Testimonials

Tell me a little about your background.
Graduated from Ohio University in the field of Exercise Physiology this past May. I was a baseball player in college and always had the goal of going into physical therapy as a career. I had been a server throughout college to make some money but decided medical device sales was something I really wanted to get into.
Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?
I got bored with my current career path and did some research and found medical device sales. I loved that I get to be in the OR and make an impact on people?s lives while enabling me to make as much money as I wanted to work for.
How did you learn about Medical Sales College?
I heard about MSC from a medical device rep in the field. I did some further research to find it as well.
What ultimately made you decide to attend?
I decided that if I want to get into this career and be the best I can be I have to invest in my future. Talking to former MSC students really helped as well. Everyone recommended it and I?m so happy I did.
Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.
Being that my background is in the medical field the science material wasn?t as challenging to me but it was quite rigorous. I was in the 6-week academy, you learn A LOT of material and that is an understatement.
What is the most valuable piece of information that you learned while attending MSC which ultimately helped you land your position?
It?s hard to say just one thing but using product knowledge was huge! Once you start talking about a product to a manager they listen to everything. It shows you have done research and understand how that product appeals to surgeons.
Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?
If you are looking for something to put on your resume that will set you apart and help land a job with no experience in medical devices it is the best investment I?ve ever made.
How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?
I actually never tried before attending MSC because it is such a competitive field. I wanted to be as prepared as possible before entering.
Did you have any fears about attending the School? What were they?
Yes, I was scared because it is a sizable financial investment and I wasn?t sure if it was going to payoff. I just graduated from college and making an investment that soon after graduating with student loans approaching was very unsettling.
Explain what your interview process was like.
I was interviewing for 2 companies before I even graduated from the program and there were several steps to each. I had in total 10 interviews before I was offered the position. I received offers from both companies. These interviews included face-time, phone, in person, and ride along interviews.
What is your current job like?
Covering cases and learning as much as I possibly can.
What do you know now that you wish you had known before entering the industry/attending Medical Sales College?
Being that I went to MSC immediately after graduating I don?t have anything I wish I would?ve known. However, I do know that it was a great choice that has benefited my life and career in a major way. The people at MSC are amazing from top to bottom.
What was the most valuable thing you learned at Medical Sales College/What piece of training do you use the most in your day-to-day activities?
Surgeon profiling and relationship building. Once you find out what your surgeons look for you can approach them in different ways. Building relationships is everything in this business; so going out of your way to help people or make their life easier will go a long way in building rapport, which is how you succeed.
