Tell me a little about your background.

I have lived in Oxford, MS for 13 years now. My wife and I have a 2 year old son. I completed my undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Mississippi. I have worked in Medical and Pharmaceutical sales for approximately the last 6 years.

Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?

I have always been interested in medical sales. I am specifically interested in medical device sales because it is an industry in which you eat what you kill. Meaning that the harder you work, the more you can make. This enables me to provide for my family in a manner in which I see fit, as well I get the added benefit of helping patients in a manner that I can physically see them improve.

How did you learn about Medical Sales College?

LinkedIn.

What ultimately made you decide to attend?

Was laid off twice in 1 year from pharmaceuticals and decided that was that and decided that Medical Devices was where I wanted and needed to be.

Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.

MSC was an eye opening very difficult training program. When people ask me to describe the course I like to say that it was as hard as my graduate level programs I took getting my masters degree but in a much shorter time frame. However, Rick Prentiss was an amazing teacher and trainer. Without him I would not know what I do now. He also was a great influence on the choices we made and are making in the industry. He did an incredible job.

Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?

The experience and knowledge you gain at MSC is second to none. If a person has no experience in the Medical Device Industry, MSC is what you need.

How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?

Less than 6 months.

Please briefly explain your job interview process with your hiring company.

I only had one interview. I skipped the first and second round interview and went straight to the VP of Sales. After one face to face I was hired.

What do you know now that you wish you had known before entering the industry/attending Medical Sales College?

Exactly how the Device industry works and what it takes to actually succeed in it.

What was the most valuable thing you learned at Medical Sales College/What piece of training do you use the most in your day-to-day activities?

How to do a Total Knee Arthroplasty.
