Tell me a little about your background.

Prior to attending MSC, I attended James Madison University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health Services Administration. Following graduation, I worked as the Executive Intern at the Operation Smile headquarters ? an international, medical not for profit organization that provides cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries to children around the globe. Through Operation Smile?s partnerships with Johnson & Johnson and Stryker, I was able to gain exposure to the great impact that medical devices have on the world. It was through this experience that I became motivated to further my education and career in the medical device industry. Shortly after the completion of my internship, I went on to attend the Orthopedic Reconstruction and Trauma program at the Medical Sales College.

Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?

Through my internship with Operation Smile, I was able to gain exposure to the incredible impact that medical devices can have on the world.

How did you learn about Medical Sales College?

My friend Taylor Blohm worked as an intern for the Medical Sales College and further educated me on the programs that they offered. She ultimately influenced my decision to attend MSC?s amazing ORT program.

What ultimately made you decide to attend?

I ultimately decided to attend MSC after speaking with Taylor Blohm and reading testimonials from other students.

Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.

I really enjoyed the training that I received at MSC. I was provided with a strong foundation that well educated me on a variety of topics in the industry. The information that I had obtained at MSC greatly assisted me in the interview process and ultimately allowed me to land a job in the field.

Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?

I think people should attend the Medical Sales College if they are looking to have a strong foundation before entering the industry. This program allows students to have a better understanding of a variety of topics in the field, which in turn allows them to articulate well and be better prepared during the interview process.

How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?

Due to being a recent college graduate, I did not spend an extensive amount of time trying to get into the industry.

Please briefly explain your job interview process with your hiring company.

The job interview process in this industry is most definitely extensive. Each company that I had interviewed with had a process that consisted of at least five interviews. Though interviewing for a job in this industry requires a lot, it has allowed me to enhance my interview skills and further develop my confidence.

What do you know now that you wish you had known before entering the industry/attending Medical Sales College?

I wish I would have known how to properly approach the job process. After completing the ORT program, I had a completely different perception of the job process as a whole. I now know the importance of the following: reaching out in regards to an application, persistence throughout the whole process, and follow-up after each step.

What was the most valuable thing you learned at Medical Sales College/What piece of training do you use the most in your day-to-day activities?

The most valuable piece of information that I received at MSC was the importance of persistence. My persistence was recognized and well received by every hiring manager that I had come into contact with. Without my extensive amount of follow-up, I would have never landed my dream position.
