Tell me a little about your background.

I began college as a Biology major and eventually switched to nursing allowing me to observe a hip replacement during clinicals. This is where I met a medical representative and was exposed to this position as a career. Being that I chose to veer away from direct patient care, I ultimately graduated with a Bachelor?s in Business Management.

Why were you interested in pursuing medical sales as a career?

In addition to helping patients and contributing to healthcare, I knew medical sales required all the skills and attributes I?ve acquired over the years and possesses reasons I would fit best in this industry: time management, goal setting, flexibility, determination, customer service, adaptation, and relationship-selling.

How did you learn about Medical Sales College?

A friend referred me after I found out how she became a rep and showed me that this was the key to landing a position in the industry.

What ultimately made you decide to attend?

Knowing I could spend months applying and connecting with recruiters, but it would never be enough.

Please describe your training experience at Medical Sales College.

Training consisted of 360 hours studying spine anatomy, procedures, and products. I also learned the appropriate process of building relationships with surgeon customers and had the opportunity to hear surgeon and medical representative speakers on the industry. In addition to this, saw bone labs were demonstrated allowing me to get hands on experience with hardware and implants as well as product presentations weekly and role plays.

Why should someone attend Medical Sales College?

If you want to break in to the industry fast, go to MSC and be a sponge. Learn everything you possibly can and study, study, study. This college gives you the opportunity to not only learn but be in the position to expose yourself to people you otherwise would never connect with. It gives you all the resources to get to the next level and succeed, and I know for sure it has changed my life.

How long did you try to get into the industry before attending MSC? What was that experience like?

About two months.

Please briefly explain your job interview process with your hiring company.

I was lucky enough to experience a thoroughly short week of interviewing. Phone interviews were conducted by each person on the team I was applying for. I flew out to the territory where I?d be working and had my in-person interview over a course of two days. Then, I joined in on a dinner with other reps and a surgeon and observed cases the following day.

What do you know now that you wish you had known before entering the industry/attending Medical Sales College?

I know now how much I didn?t know before MSC. I couldn?t have possibly known what I know now about the industry, companies, and products, but that?s okay. This school will teach you it all and open doors for you, giving you the confidence to find your way that would have been overlooked without the credibility.

What was the most valuable thing you learned at Medical Sales College/What piece of training do you use the most in your day-to-day activities?

Honestly, it can?t be just one piece of information. Being able to speak with the hiring manager about the ins and outs of the industry and position such as the hierarchy of the hospital, OR etiquette, daily tasks, and how to build the relationships truly gave assurance to each person I interviewed with that I was ready to get out there and that I can relate within the field.
